This on-line self-study course comprises of two modules focusing on Children's Development and Health and Children's Play. It is an informative and interactive course and uses information sheets, web-links, videos, webinars, interactive quizzes and tutor feedback as well as a discussion forum. The Child Development and Health unit covers various topics including an introduction to development milestones, physical, social, emotional and cognitive health needs and factors affecting development. The Process of Play unit covers various topics including child development and play, benefits and theories of play, playwork principles, ICT and play, play cycle and the playworkers role.
On successful completion of all course work you will be awarded HiMATS Certificate of Achievement.
Completion of the Children's Healthy Development and Play course provides a strong foundation for anyone considering, or at the beginning of, a career in childcare and is suitable for support workers, volunteers, pre-modern apprentice learning, crèche workers, child-minders, early learning and care practitioners, out-of-school care workers, family support workers etc. It also provides a good basis for commencing the SVQ Level 2 and 3 Social Services Children and Young People Awards which are the required qualification for Support Workers and Early Years Practitioner registration with SSSC.
